It’s not too early to be thinking about graduation this coming May.
A number of our seniors certainly are.
It will be a time to recognize the Class of ’16 for their years of achievement at Nichols. And as our faculty members assemble on the stage, the audience can appreciate their achievement in bringing their sons and daughters so far.
But institutions also can celebrate achievements. And the most exciting one for Nichols College this year will be the presence of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker to address our graduating class. That’s no mean feat, as the chief executive of any state can make only a few such appearances every graduation season.
We’re honored that the Governor chose us and look forward to conferring on him an honorary doctoral degree in public administration. With our commitment to leadership education, having a leader like Charlie Baker address our graduates is the perfect way to cap the academic year.
What’s also welcome is the leadership experience the Governor brings from the private sector, particularly as CEO for 10 years at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a groundbreaking organization in Massachusetts for decades.
We all look forward to Sunday, May 8th.
